Nutrition Formative Assessment Consultant

CARE Kenya is seeking a consultancy firm/individual to conduct a nutrition formative assessment to find out more about knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) around nutrition, food access and availability, food consumption patterns, social and behavior practices, social and gender norms that influence dietary practices by women, children, households, and community members.
The purpose of the formative assessment involves a comprehensive assessment of the food environment, including food availability, affordability, and accessibility, as well as an evaluation of the nutritional knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of the target population. The Consultant is expected to include a KAP survey, focus group discussions, Key informant interviews and other methods from a sample of targeted community project beneficiaries. The formative assessment will also seek to determine locally available food and nutrition services available within the three geographical areas of interest: Nyandarua, Nakuru and Nairobi Counties.
The consultant will report to Program Manager-CASCADE, who will also be the contact to the consultant(s) and ensure access to requisite documents and other support needed to facilitate work of the consultant.

Gender Power Analysis Consultant

CARE Kenya is looking for qualified gender consultant(s) to support the qualitative gender baseline assessment in collaboration with CARE country gender focal person. The successful candidates will help inform data collection approaches and lead the qualitative analysis utilising also available the quantitative data from the project Baseline evaluation to triangulate results. Using CARE’s Gender Equality Framework and other key related gender and nutrition approaches to gender equality, with a focus on addressing agency, structure, and relations, the baseline gender power and Analysis study will be carried out to contribute to a comprehensive understanding of what knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of women, men, adolescent girls and boys impact access to nutrition services for girls, boys, men and women in all their diversity.
The objective of the consultancy is to identify and understand the different ways in which gender and power dynamics affect food security and nutrition outcomes for men, women, boys and girls, identify and analyse the ways in which gender relations and inequalities shape and are shaped by power dynamics within the three counties. This can/will include looking at how gender roles, gender relations, the intersectionality aspects, stereotypes, and discrimination affecting or contributing to access to resources, opportunities, and decision-making power for different groups of people. The goal of gender power analysis is to understand the ways in which gender shapes social systems and how these systems can be changed to promote gender equality, and to make sectorial level recommendations for how the project can be designed and implemented to be more inclusive and transformative. This research will also aim at providing the project with a deeper contextual understanding of the more complex dynamics in the target communities (Micro level analysis) , sectorial thematic level support (Meso and Macro level analysis) on gender and nutrition, voice and leadership leading to effective and transformative advocacy. This analysis also aims to analyse the level of gender mainstreaming in existing food policies.

End-Line Evaluation Transforming Water, Sanitation and Hygiene services (TraWaSaHy) in Dadaab

CARE Kenya is looking for a consultant who will employ cross-sectional, scientific and statistical approaches to examine the extent to which the planned objectives for TraWaSaHy project have been achieved. The end line evaluation will analyze the impact, efficiency, relevance, Coherence effectiveness, and sustainability of the 2-year WASH project. The end line evaluation will draw key lessons learnt and the best practices to the project stakeholders; Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) relating to water, sanitation, and hygiene practices in the community. CARE Kenya will use this information and knowledge to inform and improve the design of ongoing, new, and future WASH Projects.
To determine the relevance of the program to the needs, priorities of beneficiaries, national, international, and living water policies. Assess progress against the indicators/targets set at baseline, make comparisons with baseline survey and consolidate project achievements in endeavor: -

To determine the impact and identify the gaps in; water supply/quality, solid waste management, sanitation facilities, vector control and hygiene promotion communication and mobilization strategies implemented by CARE.
