Strategic Pillar: Women and Girls Economic Empowerment

Equal voices and equal choices create shared prosperity. CARE Kenya advances women and girls’ equality through women's entrepreneurship, leadership, and inclusion. It supports women to build businesses, access finance, strengthen market linkages, and participate in decision-making at household, community, and national levels.

Goal: Increased enjoyment of human rights by women and girls in all their diversity and the advancement of gender equality in Kenya.

Overview

The Women’s Voice and Leadership initiative strengthens women’s rights organizations (WROs) to advocate for women and girls and influence policy change.

The program provides institutional strengthening, funding, and mentorship to local organizations advancing women’s rights and feminist leadership.

The Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership – Kenya (RWVL–K) is a five-year (2025–2030) national initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and implemented by CARE (CARE Canada and CARE Kenya) in collaboration with four Principal Partners: CREAW, Uraia Trust, CRAWN Trust, and Urgent Action Fund–Africa (UAF-Africa).

RWVL–K adopts an intersectional targeting approach, prioritizing women and girls in all their diversity, particularly those facing multiple and overlapping forms of exclusion.
